What is a mobile welfare unit?
A welfare unit is a towable unit that provides temporary canteen and welfare facilities on site. It has a separate toilet, drying room and ample space to rest and eat. Contact us today for welfare unit hire to provide your workforce with a safe, warm place to use and stay.
When do you need a welfare unit?
Unlike some other working environments, construction sites can be cold, wet, muddy places to be. There are generally few spaces to sit and relax on breaks, and basic facilities are often in short supply. A welfare unit can often provide the perfect solution.
For bigger projects scheduled to last for several weeks or months, there is a requirement for sites to provide appropriate and legally compliant facilities for the people who work there every day.
Even for short-term sites where there are no external facilities such as shops or cafés, a welfare unit is often provided for the convenience of the site workers.
For longer-term projects, HSE guidelines require contractors to provide such welfare facilities for their workers as a “basic expectation”.

Yes. Each unit is self-powered by a near-silent 6KVA generator, so you don’t need access to an external power source. This makes our welfare units well suited to remote construction sites, agricultural land, and off-grid locations across East Anglia.
